[GelatoCreate] Create-to-Connect Migration — What to Expect

This article explains the migration of GelatoCreate and Optimalprint production volume into GelatoConnect — what is changing, why it matters for your business, and how to get started.

Written by Kyle Sawyer

What Is Happening?

Gelato is migrating all GelatoCreate and Optimalprint orders into GelatoConnect. This means every order from sellers from Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, TikTok, and Optimalprint will flow through GelatoConnect — the same platform you use (or will use) for procurement, workflow, and logistics.

In practical terms, the legacy system, where Gelato Network created plates on your behalf and uploaded them for production, is being replaced. Instead of receiving pre-built plates, you will receive orders directly and manage them end-to-end using GelatoConnect.

This migration is rolling out to all Gelato Network production partners over the coming weeks. Your implementation manager or partner team contact will reach out to you directly with your specific migration plan and timeline.

Why This Migration Matters

One System for All Orders

Until now, many PSPs have been running two separate systems — GelatoConnect for their own customers, and the legacy Create system for Gelato Network orders. This migration eliminates that split. All orders, regardless of source, will be managed in one place.

Full Production Visibility

The legacy system provided limited visibility: you received a status when files were uploaded and another when they were shipped. Everything in between was a black box. With GelatoConnect, you get full visibility across every stage — order status, job status, plate status, and workflow status — all in real time.

Flexible Batching and Production Control

In the legacy system, batching rules were static and could not be modified. With GelatoConnect, you can batch on any attribute to suit your production. You can release batches manually, reprocess individual orders, and manage capacity across machines when one is down or idle.

Direct Machine Integrations

GelatoConnect has direct integrations with leading machine manufacturers and RIP software. You can send plates directly to ripping, giving you a much faster turnaround and more control over your production floor.

Mobile Access

GelatoConnect gives you the same capabilities on mobile as on desktop. Confirm supplier deliveries, manage warehouse locations, monitor stock levels, and respond to replenishment prompts — all from your phone.

Fewer Errors, Better Quality

With barcode-based tracking at every production step, automated packaging checks, and real-time inventory visibility, the migration reduces production and fatal errors. No more paper tickets getting mixed up. No more out-of-stock surprises.

What This Means for GelatoCreate Customers

GelatoCreate serves thousands of active creators running businesses on Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, TikTok, and other platforms. These creators put their brand on the line with every order — when an order is late, the quality is off, or the packaging is wrong, the creator takes the hit. On platforms like TikTok and Etsy, late orders can directly penalize the creator’s seller profile and visibility.

By migrating to GelatoConnect, PSPs gain the tools to deliver more reliably for these creators: better stock management through Procurement, fewer errors through automated workflows, and faster production through direct machine connectivity. More reliable delivery means happier creators, which means more volume flowing through the network.

Gelato is also investing heavily in software for creators — better design tools, a personalization studio, and faster workflows. Everything that helps creators succeed translates directly into more orders for you.

How to Get Started

The onboarding process is a guided six-step setup inside your GelatoConnect portal under Brand Integrations → GelatoCreate. Most PSPs complete the setup in under 10 minutes. The six steps are:

  1. Customer Setup — Register GelatoCreate as a customer in your account (automatic)

  2. Order Ingestion — Set up the connection for receiving orders (automatic)

  3. Order Status Updates — Configure status notifications back to GelatoCreate (automatic)

  4. Product Setup — Select and import the product categories you will produce

  5. Test Orders — Generate test orders to validate the full flow

  6. Workflow & Imposition Setup — Review and configure your production workflows

Steps 1–3 are fully automatic (one click each). Steps 4–6 involve selecting your products, running test orders, and validating your workflow configuration.

For a detailed walkthrough of each step, including screenshots, see:

If you already produce the same product categories for other Connect customers, you can reuse your existing workflows and imposition templates — making the setup even faster.

Support and Q&A Sessions

We are running weekly one-hour Q&A sessions over the coming weeks where you can ask any questions about the migration. These sessions are led by the product and implementation teams and are open to all Gelato Network partners.

Beyond the Q&A sessions, you have several support options:

  • Help Center — Search for specific topics or browse the GelatoCreate collection

  • Scoop (AI Support) — Our AI-native support agent inside the Help Center can guide you through specific configuration questions

  • Implementation team — Your implementation manager is available for personalized migration support

  • Report an Issue — Use the Support icon in your GelatoConnect dashboard for any technical problems

Watch the Full Webinar

We recorded a webinar covering the full migration story — why we are making this change, what it means for PSPs and creators, a live demo of the six-step onboarding, and a Q&A.
