Quality Control Failed Orders Flow Guide
This guide explains what to do when a product fails quality control, from reporting the issue to reprinting and completing the order.
1. Quality Control Station – Identify and Report Issues
Goal: Flag defective or damaged items before they leave QC.
When an operator identifies an issue (e.g., damaged product, misprint):
On the QC Station, select the job with the problem.
Click "Report Problem" and specify the issue type (e.g., damaged, incorrect print).
Click "Reprint" directly in the QC interface.
This triggers the backend workflow to create a new plate for the reprint.
Note: The reprint process here is the same as any standard reprint; there is no special QC-specific flow.
2. Workflow Automation – What Happens Behind the Scenes
Goal: Ensure stock tracking and order status updates happen automatically.
As soon as the Reprint button is clicked:
The system automatically reverts the status of the item back to "Prepared".
A new plate is generated, and Workflow runs automatically, consuming stock as needed.
Operators do NOT need to manually trigger workflow from another page.
💡 Clarification: This step replaces the previous confusion about "navigating to a reprint page" or manually running the workflow.
The operator simply clicks "Reprint," and the system takes care of the rest.
3. Production Station – Prepare for Reprint
Goal: Get the reprint into production as soon as possible.
Locate the Print Job in the production queue.
Revert production steps: Using the arrow, revert the job to its starting state. Ie, Pre-treatment step if that’s the first one
Use the same job ticket as before (or print a new one if necessary).
Place the job ticket on a new garment or product.
Proceed with production exactly as with a standard job.
4. Managing Complex Orders
Goal: Handle cases where only part of an order needs a reprint.
If an order has multiple quantities and only some items are reprinted:
Operators must manually revert the status of the specific failed job(s) in the system.
This is temporary until the system supports per-item automated status management.
Example: An order of 5 shirts has 2 damaged.
Reprint is triggered for those 2.
The remaining 3 remain in their original status.
5. QC Recheck – Final Approval
Goal: Verify that the reprinted item meets quality standards.
When the reprinted product arrives back at QC:
Review it as usual.
Approve it to pass QC and move forward in the workflow.
6. Summary of System Behavior
Action | Manual or Automatic? | Notes |
Reporting issue in QC | Manual | Operator selects issue and clicks "Reprint". |
Workflow trigger for stock | Automatic | Happens immediately when reprint is requested. |
Status change to Prepared | Automatic | Required so production can pick up the job. |
Plate creation | Automatic | Same as standard print jobs. |
Status revert for partial orders | Manual | Only needed when some items in a batch fail. |
Visual Workflow Overview
[QC Station]
Identify Issue → Report Problem → Click Reprint
[System]

[QC Station]
Final QC Check → Approve
Key Points to Remember
The reprint button in QC works the same as anywhere else in the app.
Operators do not need to navigate away from QC to run workflow.
For multi-quantity jobs, manually revert statuses as needed.
This process has been live for over a month and should already work end-to-end.
