How to Enable No Bleed Option

Written by David Echevarría López

Overview

The No Bleed Option in the AI Estimator provides a lower-cost pricing path when a job can be placed on a sheet without considering bleed or machine margins.
This applies when the job fits 1-up, 2-up, 4-up, etc. based on available sheet sizes—it's not limited to exact-size matches but a typical use case can be exact sheet size.

Examples:

  • Metric: Printing an A4 job on A4 sheets

  • Imperial: Printing a Letter-size job on 8.5 × 11 sheets

When valid, this option:

  • Ignores bleed

  • Ignores machine non-printable margins

  • Removes the cutting step when the job fits 1-up on the sheet

How to Enable It

  1. Go to Configuration → Product Setup Sheet

  2. Open the category tab

  3. Find the setting Allow Same Size Sheet

  4. Set it to YES

Once enabled, the system will automatically evaluate whether the No Bleed path can be used.

What the System Does After Enabling

When the No Bleed path is applicable:

  • Bleed is forced to zero

  • Machine margins are forced to zero

  • Non-printable areas are ignored

  • Cutting is removed if 1-up layouts

  • Imposition displays a margin-free fit

Standard impose-and-cut options still appear, but the No Bleed option is included when it results in a valid layout—and all options are sorted by final price.

When It Applies

The No Bleed Option is used when both conditions are met:

  1. The artwork fits on a sheet using the Fit rule
(1-up, 2-up, 4-up, etc., without needing bleed or margins)

  2. The product category has “Allow Same Size Sheet” enabled

The system will not use the No Bleed path when:

  • No sheet supports the job using exact fit

  • The category does not allow same-size-sheet option

In these cases, the estimator automatically returns to the standard impose-and-cut workflow.

How It Appears in the UI

When the system applies the No Bleed logic, the corresponding option in the AI Estimator options will be clearly marked with the “No Bleed” tag. This helps users easily identify which price alternatives were generated using this rule.
