This article explains the new access control roles for AI Estimator and how to assign them to your team members.
Overview
Based on customer feedback, we've introduced new access control options for AI Estimator. These allow you to ensure the right team members have appropriate access—whether for creating estimates only, or for full access including configuration and analytics.
New User Roles
MIS Admin: Full access to AI Estimator, including:
Manage Estimates (create and edit estimates)
Estimate Configuration (admin settings)
Estimate Analytics
MIS User: Limited access to AI Estimator, including:
Manage Estimates (create and edit estimates only)
MIS Users will not see the admin panels (Estimate Configuration or Estimate Analytics).
Action Required
Deadline: 31 December
You must assign MIS Admin or MIS User roles to your team members before 31 December. After this date:
Only users with MIS Admin or MIS User roles will have access to AI Estimator
Users without an assigned role will no longer see the estimation section in Gelato Connect
Until 31 December, all users will continue to have access as they do now.
How to Assign Roles to Existing Users
You must be a Gelato Connect system administrator to assign these roles.
Go to the Search menu and navigate to Users
Find the team member you want to update
Click Edit
You'll see two new role options: MIS Admin and MIS User
Select the appropriate role(s):
For full access: Select MIS Admin
For estimate creation only: Select MIS User
Click Save
How to Assign Roles to New Users
When creating a new user:
Navigate to Users
Click Add User
Enter all required details
Select MIS Admin or MIS User as appropriate
Click Save
How to Verify You Have Admin Rights
To confirm you can assign these roles:
Go to Users
Select any user and click Edit
If you can see and assign MIS Admin and MIS User roles, you have admin rights
Typically, the CEO or Production Manager has these administrative rights.
Important Reminders
Ensure the appropriate person (admin) in your facility makes these changes
Complete all role assignments before 31 December
After 1 January, users without assigned roles will lose access to AI Estimator
